Yeah, it’s had a good run, it isn’t as ubiquitous as it used to be in the 80s and 90s, though, if you pay attention a lot of other instruments are creeping in, which makes sense because they sound good. I suspect that the main reason it’s so common is because it’s easy for kids to do, and kids make a lot of the popular music. If we ever get past our youth-centered culture, I suspect it will fade into the background again
